Abby Burnett is an independent researcher who studies Arkansas cemeteries. As seen on AETN’s documentary, “Silent Storytellers,” she studies long-lost burial customs, tombstone symbolism, epitaphs and the work of early stone carvers. She has written articles for historical societies, entries for the online Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture, and been a speaker for the Association for Gravestone Studies. Her book, Gone to the Grave; Burial Customs of the Arkansas Ozarks, 1850 – 1950, was published in paperback in 2015 by the University Press of Mississippi, while When the Presbyterians Came to Kingston, written with coauthors John Little and Ellen Compton, has been reissued by the Madison County Historical and Genealogical Society. Burnett lives on Bradshaw Mountain, near Kingston.
