Since 2007, Nancy Calhoun has worked at the Muskogee Public Library as head of the Genealogy and Local History Departments. She previously worked at a city and a university library and was in journalism and printing for many years. Her education includes a B.A. in History and English, a B.S. in Vocational Home Economics with a minor in Photography and an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction.
A genealogist for 40 years, she has attended several national conferences of NGS and FGS and has won awards in genealogical writing competitions and for her photography work. Her personal research is in Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, and southwest Virginia. She is a member of DAR, UDC, United Daughters of the War of 1812, plus national, state, and local genealogical and historical societies.
